Coronavirus: A Message to MCL Customers

October 14, 2020

All Mid-Columbia Libraries branches and Bookmobile are open for curbside pickup and returns only. All library buildings remain closed to the public until further notice.

With the recent release of the State’s Phase 2/3 requirements for libraries, Mid-Columbia Libraries is in the process of reviewing and drafting plans for in-branch services. We will take the time needed to guarantee compliance with the State requirements to ensure safety for staff and the public. The State, in its Phase 2/3 guidelines, affirms public libraries should continue to facilitate services through curbside pickup where possible to limit interaction between staff and customers within enclosed spaces. We look forward to opening at 25% in-branch capacity as soon as we are safely able to do so.

Customers can put books and materials on hold then visit their branch’s designated curbside pickup area once they receive notice that items are ready for pickup. Returns boxes are located at every branch.

The health and safety of library staff and customers is of the highest importance. The library is complying with all safety requirements from the State and has implemented a 96-hour quarantine of returned materials based on the latest research in Battelle's REALM study.

We do not charge overdue fines.
