Job Posting - Customer Service Specialist (25 hours/week)

Location: Othello

Status: Part-time

Hours of Work: 25 hours/week; 3 weekday afternoon/evening shifts, and two (2) Saturday shifts 11am-4pm per month

Salary Range: Starts at $19.20/hour (2023 Salary Schedule - CSS classification)

Job Summary:

Our Othello team member will be a dynamic customer-focused individual with the desire to engage library visitors of all ages in the discovery of great books, while also supporting customers using computers and personal devices in the library. 

Minimum Qualifications:

We are currently seeking an energetic, customer service orientated individual with the following qualifications:

  • Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college, plus two years of library (or customer service) experience, including public contact  

  • Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience

  • Must also be able to obtain a valid Washington State driver’s license

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of technological devices (such as eReaders) and their application

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)

Hours of Work: 15 hours/week; includes afternoon and evening Mon-Fri shifts and weekend availability

Salary Range: $15.74/hour

Job Summary:

This part-time position performs a variety of tasks, including sorting and shelving of library materials; checking in materials from book drops; assisting library customers with basic check-out tasks; and assisting other library staff members with clerical support activities. Minimum Qualifications:

If employee is under the age of 18, a parent/school authorization form must be completed upon hire.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic alphabetical and numeric filing methods
  • Basic mathematical principles
  • Typing, word processing or entering data at a speed and accuracy level necessary for successful job performance
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships
