This is a pre-field trip lecture that will cover much of the southern half of the Cheney-Palouse Scabland Tract of the Missoula Floods. At its maximum, the flood path stretches over 25 miles wide and includes textbook examples of “Butte and Basin” topography, numerous coulees, canyons, and cataracts.

We’ll also discuss evidence of earlier ice age floods; the Palouse-Snake River spillway which includes the Palouse Canyon and of course, Palouse Falls.
