Food for Fines: NOV 1 - DEC 15
Mid-Columbia Libraries' popular Food for Fines program returns from November 1 until December 15! The program lets customers reduce their overdue library fines by $1 for each non-perishable food item they donate at the library (limit: $10/10 food items per account). The food will go to local food banks to help residents in need. Last year's program raised over 4,000 pounds of food.
To highlight the food drive, Mid-Columbia Libraries hosts two food celebrities at the Kennewick library in November:
- On November 15, meet Fanae Aaron, author of What Chefs Feed Their Kids: Recipes and Techniques for Cultivating a Love of Good Food. She will answer the question, “How do the people who know the most about food tackle the special challenges of cooking for children’s palates?”
- On November 17, meet Liz Edmunds, star of the reality makeover show The Food Nanny and author of The Food Nanny Rescues Dinner. This mother of seven encourages audiences to stop eating fast food at every meal and to whip their disastrous dinner situations into shape with budget-friendly recipes and fundamental tips for a successful family dinner.
