Reading Time - At the Table?

Some ideas on unusual times and places to read to your children - many have been shared with me by other parents. Remember to keep it a fun activity, not a punishment!
Read at the dinner table - better than watching TV!
Read in the car when you are on a trip (not while driving)!
Read while you are waiting.. in line at the grocery, waiting to get picked up from the pool...
Read in the bathtub - give the kids waterproof books!
Read in a restaurant - I love the restuarants that have their menus on the back of a children's book.

On our way to get married, many decades ago, we missed the rest of our party turning off at a rest stop, for I was reading a Great Brain book to my husband to be...... We were so into the story, dialogue, and enjoyment... --Sheri

on our trip to Yellowstone, with my younger brothers - they were more interested in "The View from the Cherry Tree" and what was happening in the story than to pull over and view some of the thermal features We had to promise we would continue the story... and find out the 'ending'.. before the trip was over !!! --Sheri
