Unique Management Services

Mid-Columbia Libraries currently contracts with Unique Management  Services, a collection agency geared towards recovering overdue library materials.

All accounts will be referred to Unique Management Services 32 days after the outstanding balance reaches $25.00 or more.

If a customer does not return a checked-out item, he or she will receive an overdue notice seven days after the item was due.

If the customer has not returned the item, he or she will be billed for the replacement cost of the item 28 days after the item is due. In addition, the customer will be informed that his or her account will be sent to Unique Management Services for collections.

All accounts referred to Unique Management Services will be charged a $10.00 collection agency fee.

Unique Management Services will send multiple letters and will make multiple phone calls. Customers will be gently advised to promptly resolve the issue with their library.

If the customer has not yet resolved the outstanding balance after 120 days, the customer’s account will be reported to all three of the major national consumer reporting agencies: TransUnion, Equifax and Experian.

If you owe fees on your library account or currently have overdue items, please visit or call your local library and ask library staff the status of your account.
